The Question That Changed Everything

How shifting from 'Why me?' to 'What is this here to teach me?' transformed my entire life.

The Door

For years, I asked the wrong question.

"Why me? Why this? Why now?"

The question felt natural. Justified, even. When you lose your mother — your anchor, your compass — the question of why consumes you. It sits in the dark corners of your mind, growing heavier with each unanswered echo.

But here's what I didn't know then: "Why?" is a door that only opens inward. It keeps you locked in the room. It keeps you circling.

The Shift

One morning, the question changed.

Not because I was ready. Not because I had healed. But because something deeper than grief finally spoke:

"What is this here to teach me?"

That single shift — from victim to student — was the door I'd been searching for.

It didn't erase the grief. It didn't make the loss smaller. But it gave the pain a purpose. It turned the heaviest thing I'd ever carried into the greatest teacher I'd ever known.

The Invitation

I'm not going to tell you that one question will fix everything. I'm not going to pretend the shift is easy or instant.

But I will tell you this: the question is waiting for you. Right now. In whatever you're going through.

What is this here to teach me?

When you're ready to ask it — truly ask it — everything changes.

That's not a promise. That's a memory.
